Friday!

So, Thursday night, I got very little sleep due to coughing all night so Friday I felt exhausted. I'm pretty sure I had a fever and could've stayed at the hotel, but I really didn't care so I went with the team anyway to Central Park in Guatemala City to do our drama 3 times. After the first time, I still felt tired, but I kept going and did the 2nd anyway. During another lunch of PB&J we were told that we were going to the National Palace for a tour, and a Guatemalan buffet, and to meet the first lady of Guatemala! We did the drama one more time, then took all of our make-up off and headed to the palace. It was very cool. We ended up waiting about an hour for the first lady, and the buffet was very small, but we became special ambassadors to the country of Guatemala and were invited back any time. We got back to the hotel around 7 PM, just in time to eat dinner, run back to the room and get to FUAGNEM on time.
Thankfully, we got to sleep in this morning, because breakfast was at 8 instead of 7 (which is 10 instead of 9 East Coast time) then we headed to the market and McDonalds. At 2 PM we're having our team debrief, then our last FUAGNEM is tonight and we get our going home t-shirts.
Tomorrow, Team 6 is leaving the hotel at 11 AM and our flight takes off at 4 PM, we will have an hour lay-over in Panama again, and we will land in Miami at about midnight. After that, I know we will spend the night in Miami, but I don't know exactly when I leave for Philly. Please pray for safety and for all the new believers in Guatemala.

Wednesday & Thursday

Yesterday, we went to an orphanage. We did our drama twice, once for like 50 kids, the other for like 600. Unfortunately during the second time, one of the other mimes fainted, but she is okay now. When we were finished we walked out of the basketball court where we were doing our drama and saw a huge dump truck tipped into one of the buildings. Then we went on a tour of the orphganage, then headed back to the hotel early so anyone who sponsers a child in Guatemala through Compassion International to meet their child. Most of the kids who did not sponser a child went back to the market. Last night, FUAGNEM was crazy hair night & an Aeyshia Woods concert.
This morning, we headed to another school to do our drama again. On the way, our bus accidently hit a pineapple cart and almost hit the guy with the cart. Thankfully, no one was hurt. After doing our drama there, we walked to a park and did our drama again and handed out a bunch of toys & stuff. Then we got back on the bus, ate lunch, then drove 30 minutes to another park to do our drama again. I had so much fun today, even though I am feeling a little sick (probably just a cold)

Hola from Guatemala!

I'm sorry I haven't updated in a while. I tried Saturday, but the computer wouldn't let me sign in soooo......
Friday was our first ministry/work day. Team 6 went to a small church to paint, and ended up being on one of there 2 Christian TV networks! Friday night, we decided to have a fire in our room, (we did have a fireplace) and we had so much fun!
Saturday, we went to a small school/orphanage for half a work day and half a drama day. I look pretty scary in mime make-up. haha! well, since it was 4th of July, we did celebrate a little bit during FUAGNEM. Then we watched Paul Blart: Mall Cop.
Sunday, we had FUAGNEM in the morning, then we went to the market. they had some pretty cool things. sunday night, jaime jam had a concert then was the talent show. some of the girls from my team did a dance to hannah montana's Nobody's Perfect.
Monday was interesting. We had to be on the road by 7 for a 2 1/2 hour drive through the mountains, with a few cases of motion sickness. then we had a 45 minute boat ride to an island that was literally all uphill to our drama area.
Today, we had an all drama day at a school. in the morning we played with little kids and then older kids in the afternoon.
Guatemalan kids are so cute! I'm having so much fun, i can't wait to see what the rest of the week will bring.

Hola!

Hola mis amigos y amigas! 25 days till we have to be in Miami. In the past month, we've gotten our t-shirts (bright orangy yellow), team assignment (Team 6! hanna is team 7), room assignment, costume assignment (kat), and international (from Miami-Guatemala, and back) flight itinerary. Hanna and I are on different teams, different rooms, different flights, different airlines and different layovers. I get to go to Panama City for 1 hour each way, she gets to go to San Jose for 1 hour each way. I'm getting really excited! I think all we have to do now is go shopping! lol

GUATEMALA

Wow! Last Month, we sent out a bunch of support letters and started on this journey of preparing for Guatemala. So raising over $5,000 seems alot for only 6 weeks, but it's definately possible.
We started recieving letters alomost immediatley, and on the day the fist payment of $630 each (1,260 total) had to be sent out (March 1), we had just enough. So if that seems like a lot $1,260 each ($2,200 total) is double that and in the same amount of time, 2 weeks.
Well, in the first of the two weeks (March 1-7)we were able to raise half of the total, but it was hard to see how the other half would show up, especially in a week and after doing all the calculations. We kept praying and Amazingly the next day, we got 3 checks in the mail that put us up over the top and into the 3rd payment of $630 each. And if we were able to get over $2,000 in two weeks, $630 in two weeks is no problem. That was last Friday.
Here we are, a month later, with all the money raised. Thank you everyone for your prayer and support. Continue to be praying for us as the trip is still 101 days away and we still have a few small details to work out, including transportation.

Everything

Next Wednesday, since the Freshmen class is in charge of chapel, we decided to do the drama to Lifehouse's song "Everything". Now this was about a month ago, and I was really excited, especially since I had already done it, and this time, I get a different part...the main person.

We've paracticed twice a week for about a month, and although we never seem to have everybody at rehearsals due to other distractions, we have to completely improvise one part because nobody wanted to wear a dress, our Jesus is a little nervous about the dancing, and we still haven't gotten through the entire song, I think it's coming along great.

We still have a few days until the chapel, so hopefully we'll be able to pull it together, but even so, only God knows how it's going to end, and whatever happens we have to accept it.

I'm Letting Go- Francesca Battistelli

This is the song I got my title from, and am sharing it with you...
My heart beats, standing on the edge
But my feet have finally left the ledge
Like an acrobat
There’s no turning back
(Chorus)
I’m letting go
Of the life I planned for me
And my dreams
I’m losing control of my destiny
It feels like I’m falling and that’s what it’s like to believe
So I’m letting go

This is a giant leap of faith
Trusting and trying to embrace
The fear of the unknown, beyond my comfort zone
(Chorus)

Giving in to your gravity
Knowing You are holding meI’m not afraid
(Chorus)
Feels like I’m falling and that’s what it’s like to believe
Feels like I’m falling and this is the life for me

GNO. Happy Valentine's Day.

Valentines Day isn't my favorite Holiday, it never has been, but spending it with friends was so much fun. Baking cookies, watching movies, not feeling like an idiot for having flour all over you, and eating as much pizza as you want,
the heart shaped pizza: http://i41.tinypic.com/nosh1u.jpg

FLOUR FIGHT!!!:http://i41.tinypic.com/2z8yki8.jpg

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (New International Version)
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.

starting a new adventure. soy feliz!

Right now, I'm REALLY excited! On Friday (Friday the 13th), my sister and I got the news that we were accepted to go to Guatemala this summer with Brio magazine. The last month has been crazy, filling out applications, worrying, praying and waiting.
This month will be filled with fundraising and waiting patiently for God to provide.
I'm really excited that I will be able to participate in this adventure and I'm hoping that God will use me in any way he can.
ttyl,
Joy
